Welcome to First Move Chess Academy (FMCA). These Terms & Conditions govern the use of our website, coaching programmes and related services. By accessing our website, enrolling in a course or making a payment, you agree to these terms. For students under 18, a parent or legal guardian must accept these terms on their behalf.
1. Our Services
FMCA provides chess coaching for beginner, intermediate and advanced students through online and offline classes, assessments, practice sessions and tournament preparation, subject to availability.
2. Registration and Enrolment
- Students or parents must provide accurate registration details.
- Enrolment is confirmed after completion of registration and payment of applicable fees.
- Demo classes and assessments are subject to availability.
- Batch allocation depends on the student’s skill level, schedule and coach availability.
3. Fees and Payments
- Fees and payment schedules will be communicated before enrolment.
- Payments must be made through authorised channels.
- Access to classes may be restricted for unpaid fees, subject to agreed payment arrangements.
- Students cannot transfer fees to another student or programme without prior approval.
4. Attendance and Scheduling
Students are expected to attend classes on time. Missed classes due to personal reasons are not automatically eligible for refunds or make-up sessions. Rescheduling requests will be considered according to programme rules and coach availability.
FMCA may make reasonable changes to schedules, batches or coaches and will communicate significant changes where possible.
5. Online Classes
Students are responsible for their devices, internet connection and learning environment. If a class is disrupted due to an issue on FMCA’s side, we will make reasonable efforts to arrange a replacement session or alternative solution.
6. Student Conduct
Students must maintain discipline, respect coaches and fellow students, and follow fair-play rules. Bullying, abusive behaviour, cheating, unauthorised recording, sharing class links or misuse of learning materials may result in suspension or termination of enrolment.
7. Intellectual Property
FMCA’s original learning materials, videos, worksheets, presentations, logos and website content may be used for personal educational purposes only. Reproduction, distribution or commercial use without permission is prohibited, except as permitted by law.
8. Learning Outcomes
FMCA provides structured coaching and guidance but does not guarantee specific rating improvements, tournament results, titles, rankings or scholarships. Progress depends on practice, attendance, effort and individual ability.
9. Photography and Videos
Photographs, videos and testimonials may be collected during classes and events. Promotional use of identifiable student content will be subject to appropriate consent and applicable law. Parents or guardians may contact FMCA regarding consent or future promotional use.
10. Third-Party Services
FMCA may use third-party platforms for online classes, chess practice, payments and communication. Their services may be governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
11. Suspension or Termination
FMCA may suspend or terminate enrolment for non-payment, serious misconduct, fraudulent activity or repeated violations of these terms. Refunds, where applicable, will be handled according to our Refund & Cancellation Policy and applicable law.
12. Privacy
Personal information is handled according to our Privacy Policy, which explains how information is collected, used, stored and protected.
13. Limitation of Liability
FMCA makes reasonable efforts to provide reliable services but does not guarantee uninterrupted website or third-party platform access. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
14. Changes to Terms
FMCA may update these terms when necessary. The latest version will be published on this page with the revised date.
